Coaching T&Cs

Client statement

I agree to undertake a set number of coaching sessions to address key changes I wish to make in my life. I am committed to taking positive action to meeting the goals I identify as necessary to do this. I commit to being open and honest in order to best work with my coach towards achieving my goals.

Timetabling and Payment for Sessions

  1. If I need to re-arrange any appointments, I will give at least 48 hours notice. I understand that if I fail to give 48 hours notice, I will lose my session and it will not be refunded. My coach will also be within her rights to withdraw from future sessions.

  2. I agree to commit to the programme of coaching sessions to facilitate the required change. I understand that if I am not satisfied with my progress during this time and wish to cancel my remaining sessions, I may do so at any time up to 48 hours before the following session.

  3. I agree to pay for my sessions at least 48 hours prior to each session taking place.

Client Commitments

  1. As the client I understand that I am fully responsible for the decisions and choices reached during the coaching sessions.

  2. I understand that to make the most out of the coaching it is advisable that I prepare for each session and choose topics and challenges that are most relevant to me and my goals.

  3. I understand that ‘coaching’ is a relationship I have with my coach that is designed to facilitate the development of personal or professional goals and develop a plan/strategy for achieving those goals.

  4. I understand that coaching is a comprehensive process, which may involve all areas of my life including work, family, health, relationships, education, and recreation. I acknowledge that deciding how to handle any issues is my responsibility.

  5. I will make specific requests when my needs are not being met or when a change in direction of our work is required. This can be voiced openly and directly at all times. I acknowledge that I am encouraged to speak my mind as freely as possible and clearly state when I feel that we are not making the best use of our time together.

  6. I understand that I can contact my coach in between sessions via email, e.g. to (re)schedule sessions, receive session material, and share updates on progress. I agree that this is within the limits of reasonable interaction and not a substitute for coaching.

  7. I understand that coaching is not a substitute for counseling, mental health care, or substance abuse treatment.

  8. I promise to inform my coach if I am currently in any kind of therapy and that any medical or therapeutic practitioners involved in my care have been advised of my intention to work with a coach.

Data Confidentiality

  1. My coach engages in training and continuing education pursuing and/ or maintaining ICF (International Coach Federation) Credentials. That process requires the names and contact information of all clients for possible verification by ICF and/or other official coaching bodies. By accepting this agreement, I agree to have my name, contact information and start and end dates of coaching shared with staff members and/or other parties involved in this process for the sole and necessary purpose of verifying the coaching relationship, no personal notes will be shared. I understand that I can withdraw my consent at any time.

  2. According to the ethics of our profession, topics may be anonymously and hypothetically shared with other coaching professionals for training, supervision, mentoring, evaluation, and for coach professional development and/or consultation purposes.

  3. I understand that my coach may need to provide recordings of sessions to her supervisor for her on-going development. My coach will always ask for permission prior to recording and will respect confidentiality with any recordings taken. Recordings will be saved electronically and access will require a secure password. I understand I can opt out of recordings taking place at any time.

  4. All information (documented or verbal) that I share with my coach as part of the coaching relationship is bound by the principles of confidentiality set forth in the ICF Code of Ethics. Confidential information does not include information that (a) my coach is required by statute, lawfully issued subpoena, or by court order to disclose; (b) is disclosed to my coach and as a result of such disclosure she reasonably believes there to be an imminent or likely risk of danger or harm to myself (the client) or others; and (c) involves illegal activity.
